No opportunities
I talk about this all of the time, but honestly, there are no job opportunities in Saint John. The majority of well paid jobs are at places run by the greedy Irvings. Everything else is call centers, minimum wage jobs and you would be lucky to find a decent job after you have finished college or university in the city.
No wonder people decide to move to other parts of Canada or overseas. There is nothing to keep anybody here and certainly not myself.
I remember last year being unemployed for a couple of months. I would scour the job websites listed but they never did any good. The things that I want to study and advance myself in life, well, there are no opportunities, no bright light at the end of a rigid tunnel. And my I suggest to anyone who lives in New Brunswick (and this goes for anybody really) do NOT trust job agencies and do not waste your time making the trips there. They fill the positions as fast as they can and half the time the positions are only temporary. What’s the use?
There is nothing wrong with moving away from here, I am all for it. It just makes me worried about the younger generations. I worry so much because there is no where for troubled teens to go. There are not enough rehabilitation programs, because the city doesn’t care. So, it makes me wonder if the youth right now are full of any aspirations in life. What do they have to look forward to? A depressed city that will not motivate them.
With Saint John and surrounding areas being so conservative, I doubt anyone will want to stay here in the future.
